Live Oak VINELink Coverage
The Live Oak Sheriff still links to VINELink for custody checks. That link reflects the former county platform. Texas moved participating county jails and courts to IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025, and migrated existing registrations. Search and case information may be used without creating an account. The portal must still show Live Oak as a participant before any coverage claim is made.
TDCJ has a separate IVSS portal for state prison, parole, and mandatory-supervision events. It does not hold ordinary Live Oak booking releases. The two systems share a notification purpose but cover different custodians. Neither covers FCI Three Rivers, which is a federal BOP institution.

Search Live Oak IVSS Records
Begin with one person and enough identifiers to avoid a mistaken match. Search can be done without registration. An account is used when notifications are wanted.
- Open IVSS-Counties or call the 24-hour operator at 866-268-8959.
- Enter the person's name and available identifiers. Choose Live Oak County if the jurisdiction is offered.
- Compare the returned details before opening the custody or case record.
- Read the newest event literally. Events may include booked, released, escape, death, transfer to TDCJ, or a court change.
- If release appears, contact the jail for the exact time, type, and any receiving agency.
- If Live Oak or the person does not appear, call the operator and Sheriff. No result is not proof of release.

A released county result confirms the participating feed's event. It does not rule out custody in another county, TDCJ, BOP, or ICE. A transfer to TDCJ is not a community release.

Register Live Oak Release Alerts
County registration can be completed online or with the operator. Migrated users may be prompted to update a password on first login. The new county portal should not be described as requiring a PIN unless its current screen or operator does so.
- Create an account or sign in to IVSS-Counties.
- Find and verify the exact person.
- Add the record to registrations.
- Select call, text, email, and the available preferences.
- Save the registration and follow the displayed confirmation instructions.
By telephone, identify the person, ask the operator to register the event, choose the delivery channel, and complete the operator's confirmation steps. A notice can be useful for release, transfer, escape, death, or a court-event change, depending on the participating feed.
Live Oak TDCJ IVSS Alerts
For a TDCJ prisoner or parole case, use TDCJ IVSS or call 800-848-4284. Search the state record, select the person, and choose notification methods. TDCJ's automated telephone process uses a PIN confirmation. Calls can continue until the correct confirmation is entered.
TDCJ alerts may cover parole eligibility, decisions, upcoming release, and discharge. Those events concern a state sentence. They do not supply a Live Oak County booking sheet or a county-jail release time.

Why Live Oak Still Says VINELink
Live Oak County exposes the statewide transition in a clear way. Its Sheriff page still names VINELink, while the Texas Attorney General directs participating counties to IVSS-Counties. Existing VINE registrations moved to the new system at transition. The old label is therefore understandable, but the current portal is the proper operating path.
This change matters when a saved bookmark fails or a person expects the former interface. Start at the state portal, then check the jurisdiction. Do not assume the county stopped all notification merely because the Sheriff page was not updated. Likewise, do not assume participation without seeing Live Oak offered in the current system.
Confirm Live Oak Release Alerts
Notification data can lag. Names can also match. Call the Live Oak County Sheriff or Jail at 361-449-2271 and request the source record when exact release facts matter. A jail release sheet can supply the timestamp, release code, authority, and transfer destination if those fields are maintained.
FCI Three Rivers is outside both Texas IVSS systems. Search the BOP locator for a federal prisoner. ICE ODLS addresses immigration custody, while a no-result there also does not prove freedom. Current TDCJ online inmate search covers people presently incarcerated in TDCJ and is not a released-person archive.
Document Live Oak Release Events
An alert is not the full release record. For county custody, send a narrow Texas Public Information Act request to the Sheriff's Office at asheriff@co.live-oak.tx.us or to the published jail-log address, locjjaillog@gmail.com. Identify the person, booking number if known, and a short date range. Ask for the existing booking sheet, release date and time, release code or authority, and receiving agency if those fields are maintained.
The court record supplies a different kind of proof. The Live Oak District Clerk handles felony and district matters. The County Clerk handles county-level misdemeanor cases, while municipal courts keep their own files. A bond order, dismissal, judgment, or commitment may explain the legal basis for an event but may not state the physical jail exit time. Compare the case number and dates with the jail record.
For a former TDCJ prisoner, the public online inmate search is not enough because it lists current TDCJ inmates. TDCJ's public information channels can be asked for incarceration history and an actual release or discharge date. For a federal prisoner, use BOP records and the federal docket. Each source answers for its own custody system.
When Live Oak Alerts Fail
A missed call, filtered email, changed telephone number, or incomplete registration can prevent a notice from reaching its recipient. Log back into the correct portal and confirm that the exact person remains registered. Check the selected delivery methods. For TDCJ automated calls, enter the PIN correctly because calls may continue until confirmation.
Never use silence as a custody finding. Call the county operator or TDCJ line, then verify with the controlling agency. The purpose of registration is timely notice, but the official custody record determines what happened.
Review the jurisdiction as well. A person first booked in Live Oak County may later move to TDCJ, another county, federal custody, or immigration custody. The county registration does not follow every later system. Add the correct state registration when TDCJ accepts the person, or switch to the BOP locator for a federal sentence. If the county event says transfer, request the receiving-agency field from the jail rather than waiting for a county release alert that may never come.
Identity details deserve the same care. Similar names can produce several results, and an old registration can remain tied to the wrong case. Compare a date of birth, agency, case identifier, or custody number when offered. If those details do not align, do not register the record merely because the name looks familiar.
